The BS Files are kinda like the X-files – full of myths and urban legends and mysterious things. I feel that it is my duty to tackle them (occasionally). Because, you know, the truth is out there.
Case #10. That’s not me. I could never do that! Bullshit!
It’s no accident that this is my 100th Blog. Two years ago, I would never have thought that I would have written 100 blogs – and loved doing it. Because I get bored. Because I don’t stick with things. Bullshit!
This myth just doesn’t seem like it should need to be addressed because we have so much evidence that it’s not true:
We get up pretty much every single day.
We hold jobs for long periods of time.
Most of us decide to continue being parents.
We have a pretty good track record for brushing our teeth.
We complete projects.
We actually do the things we set our minds to do.
And yet, anytime we are faced with doing something we haven’t done before (yet!) we tell ourselves that we probably can’t do it, we don’t know how, we aren’t the ones who do that kind of thing, and a bunch of other bullshit. So this myth does need to be addressed.
Okay, this is normal brain stuff. Survival 101 programming – ooooh scary, might fail so don’t try. Yup, the brain brake lights work.
Thanks but no thanks, brain. I’m still in charge. I say what we can and cannot do.
Truth: You can do whatever you want. You just have to believe that you can.
Truth: You have all kinds of evidence that you can do amazing things, so you can believe it.
Truth: Just because you haven’t done something yet doesn’t mean you can’t do it. Oh, and forget that other BS File topic, because it isn’t too late!
And remember: in all things – progress, not perfection!
Love and light,
